Born and brought up in the city of Kolkata (or Calcutta, as it was called then), I literally grew up in an environment of sports! The “Mecca of Indian football“, as it is fondly called by football enthusiasts, and home to the beautiful Eden Gardens, the lovely South Club, the grand Yuvabharati Krirangan and some of India’s finest sportspersons (Leander Paes, Sourav Ganguly, and P.K. Banerjee to name a few), there isn’t probably a better city for sports lovers than Kolkata!

I’ve always wanted to be a sportsperson myself! Introduced at a very early age by my parents, I have always revelled in the magnificence and the competitiveness of the wonderful world of sports, and dreamt of taking it up as a career. If not as a player, as a referee or an umpire at least! But as fate would have it, I ended up, like the millions of other youngsters coding away sitting in their cozy little air-conditioned MNC cubicles, becoming a software engineer!

However, I still dream of taking up a profession one day, that will let me showcase my love for sports. A sports journalist may be!

And “My Sports Journal” is my first step towards realizing that dream.
